Become a successful freelancer

To become a successful freelancer, you have to work hard. It is not an easy task to get orders. It is a misconception that when you complete your profile in the freelance marketplace, you will start getting orders. If you want to achieve big, it takes time and hard work as Colin Powell, former U.S Defense Secretary, said:

A dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.

Around 1.1 billion people do freelancing in the world. Many people are doing freelancing, so the competition is too high. Everyone has talent, but the freelancers who become successful are doing hard work. As an American author said:

Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is hard work.

Some Points to become a successful freelancer are:

Create a portfolio

A portfolio means your projects that you want to show your clients. You do not need to tell the clients about the past work, you send them your portfolio to show them your projects. In freelancing, it is important to create a portfolio. You can create your website to show your portfolio, or you can create an account on portfolio websites and upload your work there. Famous portfolio websites are Behance, Dribble, adobe portfolio, and many more.

Marketing on social media

About 4.14 billion people use social media and have many groups on the promotion for freelancer. You can create a video or image that is about your skill and post it on any promotion group.

Learn to be polite

If you have skills and the client impress with your portfolio, but you talk with him rude so, there is the possibility that he is not going to award the project just because of your behavior. Use short words and try to understand what the client wants to say. Do not say NO to any client. Try to use positive words to say NO.

Update profile

If you do not get the order, try updating your profile. Change your keywords, description, and the pictures, and videos you are using.

Getting your project

Instant reply

Try to reply to the client as soon as possible. If you are busy, then at least reply to him shortly and tell him “You will get back to him shortly” and message him when you are free.

Understand what your client wants

Before bidding on the project, you have to understand what the client wants. Some new sellers bid on the project, but they are not able to do it. This behavior can ruin your rating and profile. Bid the project when you are satisfying that you will do it.

Make schedule

Try to create a schedule that helps you to track how much work you have done in a day. Set your working hours and also the relax time.

On-time delivery

After getting the order, your responsibility is to deliver the project on time. In Fiverr, when one project is late then you have to complete ten projects on time to bring On-Time Delivery Rate to 90%.

Rating

Try to deliver the project that is according to your client’s wish. Because if he gives you a bad rating, then your profile spoils, and also difficult to get more projects.

Conclusion

You have to work hard to become a successful freelancer. Hard work is the only distinction between a successful freelancer and an unsuccessful freelancer. You can create a portfolio, promote your skills on social media, learn to be polite, and update your profile. After getting the project, try to: reply as fast as possible, make schedules, deliver the project on time, and understand what the client wants.
